Welcome to Hill Country Hot Yoga
We love having you here!
Love our studio!
We are a brand new yoga studio offering OHYA (Bikram) hot yoga, hot vinyasa and yin yoga classes 7 days per week. We are committed to help you with your fitness journey, no experience, grow and transform yourself physically, mentally and emotionally. Everyone is welcome to our warm and uplifting community!
Love the healing!
OHYA (Bikram) Hot Yoga is one of the most healing of all yoga practices. We offer 60-, 75- and 90-minute classes to fit your busy schedule. This proven system of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises will calm your mind, heal your body, and build both strength and flexibility simultaneously. The heat accelerates the healing benefits of the yoga practice through sweating and detoxification as well as loosening the muscles for maximum flexibility. The heat raises you heart rate, improving cardiovascular health and challenging your mind. The connection of mind and body through your breath provides stress relief as well as improved lung capacity and body awareness. So commit to practicing at least 3 times per week for maximum health and well-being.
Love our Instructors!
All of our teachers have completed at least a 200-hour certified teacher training course in OHYA or Bikram hot yoga. Many have advanced trainings and completed continuing education. Our teachers are experienced professionals who understand what you need. We have something for everyone and we take pride in welcoming all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. All of our classes are welcoming to all levels - from the beginner to the most advanced practitioner, the teacher always offers modifications depending on your level.
Love our Radiant Infrared Heat, it’s HOT!
OHYA / Bikram yoga recommends the optimal temperature and humidity for your yoga practice to be 105 degrees with 40% humidity. Our Radiant Infrared Heating system heats up objects in the room, so when you enter you will feel the radiant heat penetrating your body with heat that feels as good as the sun. Additionally, the heating system is designed with “zone control”. If you prefer to practice in the hottest area of the studio, move to the front row, if you prefer it a little less hot, practice toward the back. We have the ability to switch off the heating panels in zones by row to improve the comfort and enjoyment of individual preferences.
Love our community!
We strive to make our studio a sanctuary where you will feel loved and accepted for who you are today. We want to challenge you yet ensure you feel supported by our instructors and fellow clients. Come join our tribe and feel the difference at Hill Country Hot Yoga!

WELCOME TO YOUR YOGA JOURNEY …
You’ve made the first step in your journey to better physical and mental health and well being by coming to Hill Country Hot Yoga. Yoga means union … union of mind and body. Yoga is the exploration of your body so you can live a more fulfilled life. Yoga builds strength and flexibility simultaneously as well as improving stamina. Yoga is a sanctuary where you focus on you in the present moment, a meditative practice that reduces stress. It is a transformational practice that is available to everyone. We are here to support your journey to experience yoga, grow your practice and transform your life.
WHAT TO BRING and WHAT TO WEAR …
Please bring our own yoga mat, full sized bath or yogi towel and a liter of water. If you do not have your own mat, we will rent you one for $5, but you will eventually want to own your own (especially when you realize how much you will sweat). Our studio requires the use of a LARGE mat size towel (preferably one that absorbs lots of water) to place on your mat. We have super absorbent, mat sized towels available for rent ($5) at our studio. Face towels are complimentary at the studio. Please bring about a liter of water in a plastic bottle or stainless steel container (no glass or colored liquids, please). If you would prefer, you can buy water at the studio. We carry liters of water for $4 and coconut water for $5.
Women: wear stretchy yoga clothing that you feel comfortable moving and stretching in. Leggings or shorts are fine as well as a sports bra with or without a tank top (tee shirts are also ok, but they tend to get in the way, unless they are v-necks)
Men: workout pants or shorts that are tight fitting around the leg are fine. Some men will prefer to wear a tee shirt or tank top, others will not.
WHAT TO EXPECT …
Please arrive for your first class at least 15 minutes early so we can discuss your goals and understand your injuries or limitations, get you registered and show you around the studio. The doors will open at least 30 minutes prior to class start time and will be locked during class. Leave your shoes on the rack in the front lobby and bring your belongings into the yoga room where we have cubbies to store your stuff. PLEASE SILENCE YOUR CELL PHONE. Make sure you drink plenty of water before and after class. It is best to minimize eating before class to light meals about 1-2 hours before yoga. If you are attending a morning class and you feel you need to eat something, have a liquid protein drink, smoothie or piece of fruit or toast, just something very light. Anything heavy may make you feel weighed down or queasy.

IF YOU NEED A BREAK …
If you are overwhelmed with the heat, tired, queasy or just need to take a break… PLEASE TRY TO STAY IN THE ROOM. It takes a few classes to get used to the heat, but staying in the room will accelerate this process. Please try to calm your breath and heart rate at first by standing still, looking at yourself in the mirror and inhaling/exhaling deeply through your nose. Feel free to lie down on your mat or take a child’s pose at anytime. If you sit down then keep your back straight and chest open to assist your breathing. Always breathe in and out through your nose with your mouth closed. This is a yoga class not a competition! Everyone’s ability in each posture will be different. You are guaranteed to reap the benefits of yoga by doing the best you can in each posture; respond to the instructions, concentrate on alignment and work to your level in the present moment.
AFTER CLASS
You may stay in the yoga room for the final relaxation pose (savasana) for as long as you need to warm down and allow your breathing and heart rate to slow down. This helps your body and mind to integrate all the great work you have completed in the last 60, 75 or 90 minutes. You will be given a cool lavender cloth at the end of each hot class. You can place this on your head, face or neck to cool off. These towels are infused with lavender essential oil. If you have any allergies to lavender, please let the teacher know you do not want a towel. You can also use these cloths after class to wipe down your yoga mat. Please put used lavender cloths in our laundry bin after use. We have a changing room and a bathroom for your convenience as well as some benches so rest before you leave. Please take your time leaving after class, ask any questions, pick up tips, meet new yogi friends – and enjoy how you feel.
THE NEXT FEW DAYS
Reactions the next day are varied. Some students never feel at all stiff, thanks to the beneficial effects of the radiant heat. However, should you feel sore or stiff, the best plan is to get back into the hot yoga room as soon as possible. You may also want to try a hot bath with epsom salts or sit in your hot tub or sauna. It is recommended to take at least three classes in your first week – this will help your mind overcome the challenge of the heated room, you will learn the postures quickly and you accelerate your personal yoga journey. You may also begin noticing the benefits immediately – the sweat releases toxins from your body and the fresh oxygenated blood that you create will begin to heal and restore your muscles, joints and organs. You will get that same endorphin rush you get from running 5 miles. With regular practice, your body will acclimate to exercising in the heated room and you will be noticing great changes in your flexibility, strength and stamina. Mentally, your whole attitude may seem to lighten up several notches. Friends and family start to notice that ‘yoga glow’ in your skin – without you saying a thing! And remember – this is your journey, no one else’s – and if this is your first class, the postures may seem strange, and the heat may feel uncomfortable. Stick with it, hot yoga is worth it!

THE HILL COUNTRY HOT YOGA ENVIRONMENT
We believe in a positive, supportive environment. We want to know your name, your physical constraints, goals for your practice and why you are here. We want you to have an amazing experience every time you walk through our doors. You will be encouraged to maximize the alignment in your postures; coached to reap the rewards of good deep breathing; coaxed to find ‘new places’ in your practice, the fine line between effort and relaxation.
As a convenience, we have benches for you to sit on before and after class, a changing room and a gender-neutral bathroom. We do not have showers, so please bring a change of clothes if you don’t want to drive home in sweaty clothing.
All of our teachers are certified to meet OHYA / Bikram yoga teacher training standards. You can be sure that you receive a safe and well-informed session EVERY time you come into our studio.
We offer mostly heated classes. The radiant infrared heat improves flexibility, minimizes muscle strain and lactic acid build up, reduces the risk of injury, provides amazing cleansing of the body and builds tremendous stamina and endurance.
Our heated room has mirrors on two of the walls. You are your best teacher and need to see how your body expresses every posture and the mirrors provide feedback for self-correction. The mirrors also help you gain body awareness and over time, build self-confidence and a positive attitude. Don’t be surprised to find the lifestyle choices you make improve as well. When you feel better from the hot yoga practice, you tend to make better lifestyle choices. You may not have any more sugar cravings, you may choose to get more sleep, stay hydrated, eat healthier, drink less alcohol and generally live a more stress free life.
